TAYplan wide Joint Housing Need and Demand Assessment (2013)

Designated by Scottish Ministers in June 2008 under the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006, the role of a Strategic Development Planning Authority (SDPA) is to prepare and maintain a Strategic Development Plan for the local area.

The SDPA for this area is called TAYplan and operates on behalf of a partnership of Dundee City, Perth and Kinross, Angus and Fife Councils. The process for preparing the latest TAYplan wide Joint Housing Need and Demand Assessment has involved engagement and consultation with a number of key stakeholder organisations and the wider community over the last few months.

The latest publication of the TAYplan partnership has now been agreed as 'robust and credible' by the Scottish Government's CHMA (Centre for Housing Market Research) in February 2014 and is available to view by using the following link:

Housing Need and Demand Assessment (HNDA) (2010)

The Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 places a duty on local authorities to develop Local Housing Strategies (LHS), informed by an assessment of housing need in their area.

The primary purpose of this study is to provide the evidence base to inform the LHS and developing planning framework, consequently it will in part inform the strategic allocation of land designated for housing at the Local Development and Strategic Development Plan level.

The Scottish Government have approved the Angus HNDA (2010) as 'robust and credible', providing a high quality and reliable assessment of present and future housing need and demand across Angus.
