APPENDIX I to the minute of the meeting of the Roads Committee of 11 March 1999 (Article 1(b) refers)

MINUTE of MEETING of the EXECUTIVE SUB-COMMITTEE of the ROADS COMMITTEE held in the Town and County Hall, Forfar on Tuesday 9 February 1999 at 3.30 pm.

Present: Councillors SANDY WEST, GEORGE ALLAN and WILLIAM MIDDLETON, (substitute for IAN MACKINTOSH)

1. MINUTE OF PREVIOUS MEETING

The minute of meeting of this Sub-Committee of 11 December 1998 was approved as a correct record and signed by the Convener.

2. EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS

The Sub-Committee resolved, in terms of Standing Order No 27(2), that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item so as to avoid the disclosure of information which is exempt in terms of Part 1 of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, paragraphs 6, 8 and 9.

3. ACCEPTANCE OF TENDERS

(a) Traill Drive, Montrose - Street Lighting and Footway Reconstruction Improvements

There was submitted Report No 16/99 by the Director of Roads recommending acceptance of the lowest of the five tenders received for footway reconstruction/street lighting improvement works at Traill Drive, Montrose, proposing that the contract be varied to facilitate the installation of street lighting along the sea frontage, and setting out the financial implications.

The Sub-Committee agreed:-

(i) to approve the acceptance of the lowest tender for footway reconstruction/street lighting improvement works at Traill Drive, Montrose being that submitted by Tayside Contracts in the amount of £93,304.70; and

(ii) to issue an ordered contract variation to the value of approximately £25,000 to facilitate lighting along the sea frontage, which cost would be met from within the overall approved funding for the project.

(b) U300 - Kirkton of Kinnettles - Bridge Replacement

There was submitted Report No 85/99 by the Director of Roads recommending acceptance of the lowest of the four tenders received for the replacement of the bridge at the U300, Kirkton of Kinnettles and setting out the financial implications.

The Sub-Committee agreed to accept the lowest tender for the U300 Kirkton of Kinnettles Bridge Replacement Works, being that submitted by Tayside Contracts in the amount of £42,850.

(c) A930 Elinsore Bridge - Carriageway Overlay and Drainage Works

There was submitted Report No 184/99 by the Director of Roads recommending acceptance of the lowest of the five tenders received for the carriageway overlay and drainage works at the A930 Elinsore Bridge and setting out the financial implications.

The Sub-Committee agreed to accept the lowest tender for the carriageway overlay and drainage works at the A930 Elinsore Bridge being that submitted by Tayside Contracts in the amount of £140,807.77.
