APPENDIX I to the minute of meeting of the Education Committee of Tuesday 22 August 2000 (Article 2(b) refers)

MINUTE of MEETING of the SPECIAL CASES SUB-COMMITTEE OF THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE held in the Town and County Hall, Forfar on Tuesday 22 August 2000 at 3.15 pm.

Present: Councillors BRIAN MILNE, SHEENA WELSH and DAVID LUMGAIR.

Also in Attendance: Councillor KITTY RITCHIE (Local Member)

1. MINUTE OF PREVIOUS MEETING

The minute of meeting of this Sub-Committee of 25 April 2000, was approved as a correct record and signed by the Convener.

2. EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS

The Sub-Committee resolved, in terms of Standing Order 27(2) that the public and press be excluded during consideration of the following item so as to avoid the disclosure of information which was exempt in terms of Part 1 of Schedule 7A to the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, paragraph 3.

3. PROVISION OF SCHOOL TRANSPORT - PARENTAL REQUESTS

(a) Airlie Area

There was submitted Report No 901/00 by the Director of Education in respect of a request for provision of school transport to convey a pupil between Littleton of Airlie and Airlie Primary School.

After hearing the Director of Education and having considered the circumstances set out in the Report, the Sub-Committee agreed that the request be refused.

(b) Finavon Area

There was submitted Report No 902/00 by the Director of Education in respect of a request for provision of school transport to convey a pupil between Bogardo Cottages, Finavon Hill and Forfar Academy.

After hearing the Director of Education and having considered the circumstances set out in the Report, the Sub-Committee agreed that the request be refused.

(c) Hillside Area

With reference to Article 3 of the minute of meeting of the Special Cases Sub-Committee of the Education Committee held on 25 April 2000, there was submitted Report No 903/00 by the Director of Education in respect of a further request for the provision of school transport to convey pupils between Hillside and Montrose Academy.

After hearing the Director of Education and Councillor Ritchie, the local member, and having considered the circumstances set out in the Report, the Sub-Committee agreed that the request be granted until such time as the route at the Montrose Railway Bridge was considered safe.
