MINUTE of SPECIAL MEETING of the PERSONNEL AND PROPERTY SERVICES COMMITTEE held in the Town and County Hall, Forfar on Friday 21 February 1997 at 4.10 pm.

Present: Councillors ROB MURRAY, WILLIAM MIDDLETON, GEORGE ALLAN, IAN HUDGHTON, ALEX KING, Mrs RENATE LAMONT, GLENNIS MIDDLETON, BRIAN MILNE, STEWART MOWATT, KATHLEEN RITCHIE, RICHARD SPEIRS and THOMAS YOUNG.

Apology: An apology for absence was intimated on behalf of Councillor JACK GIBB.

1. PROVISIONAL REVENUE BUDGET 1997/98

There were submitted (a) Report No 214/97 by the Director of Finance being the Summary Progress and Background Report on the Provisional Revenue Budget 1997/98; (b) Report No 215/97 by the Director of Finance being the Provisional Revenue Budget Volume including a commentary by each Head of Department and (c) Report No 216/97 by the Director of Finance being the Departmental Savings Proposals Volume.

The Committee agreed:-

(1) to note the revised budget submissions for 1997/98 for Personnel, Property Services and Local Offices as contained in pages 118 to 119, 120 to 121 and 122 respectively of the Provisional Revenue Budget Volume (Report No 215/97);

(2) to note the savings proposals for Personnel, Property Services and Local Offices as contained in pages 53 to 54, 55 to 56 and 57 to 58 respectively of the Departmental Savings Proposals Volume (Report No 216/97);

(3) to approve the category A savings for the Personnel Department totalling £58,000; the category A savings for the Property Services Department totalling £71,000 and the category A savings for Local Offices totalling £8,000; and

(4) to approve the revised budget net expenditure for the Personnel and Property Services Departments and Local Offices resulting therefrom and to advise the Council at the Council Tax setting meeting on 6 March 1997 accordingly.
