APPENDIX I to the minute of meeting of the Personnel and Property Services Committee of 29 August 2000 (Article 19(b) refers)

MINUTE of MEETING of the EXECUTIVE SUB-COMMITTEE of the PERSONNEL AND PROPERTY SERVICES COMMITTEE held in the Committee Room, 7 The Cross, Forfar on Tuesday 11 July 2000 at 3.15 pm.

Present: Councillors BILL MIDDLETON, PETER MURPHY and ROB MURRAY.

Councillor MIDDLETON, Convener, in the Chair.

1. EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS

The Sub-Committee resolved, in terms of Standing Order 27(2), that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items so as to avoid the disclosure of information which was exempt in terms of Part 1 of Schedule 7A to the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, Paragraphs 6 and 8.

3. REPLACEMENT OF SOUTHMUIR PRIMARY SCHOOL AND EXTENSION AND ALTERATIONS TO WEBSTER'S HIGH SCHOOL, KIRRIEMUIR ­ TENDER REPORT

With reference to Article 3 of the minute of meeting of the Personnel and Property Services Committee of 29 November 1999, there was submitted Report No 740/00 by the Director of Property Services containing details of tenders received for the replacement of Southmuir Primary School and the extension and alterations to Webster's High School, Kirriemuir

The Sub-Committee agreed:-

  1. to approve acceptance of the lowest tender submitted for the several works, that of Torith Limited, Dundee, in the amount of £2,303,805.17;
  2. to approve the estimated total cost of £2,795,297 in respect of this project (at out-turn prices);
  3. to note that an allowance of £2,850,000 had been made for this project in the Final Revenue and Capital Budgets 2000/2001; and
  4. to note the revenue implications arising from the project (first full year 2002/2003) as contained in the Report.

The following matter, was, on the determination of the Convener, dealt with as a matter of urgency in view of the need to respond to the request at the earliest possible date.

4. ST JAMES HOUSE, FORFAR

With reference to Article 9 of the minute of meeting of the Personnel and Property Services Committee of 2 May 2000, there was circulated Report No 753/00 by the Director of Property Services advising the Sub-Committee of a request for a further extension of the lease of the workshop, etc areas at St James House, Forfar to Messrs Don & Low.

The Sub-Committee agreed:-

  1. to note the contents of the Report; and
  2. to agree to Messrs Don & Low's request for a further extension to 31 December 2000 subject to a formal minute of extension being entered into.
