Councillor BILL MIDDLETON, Convener, in the Chair.

1. EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS

The Sub-Committee resolved, in terms of Standing Order 27(2), that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item, so as to avoid the disclosure of information which was exempt in terms of Part 1 of Schedule 7A to the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, Paragraphs 6 and 9.

2. TERM CONTRACT BASED UPON SCHEDULE OF RATES FOR MINOR PROJECTS (UP TO £100,000 IN VALUE) 2001/04 TENDER LIST

With reference to Article 5 of the minute of meeting of this Committee of 17 March 1998, there was submitted Report No 4/01 by the Director of Property Services advising that, following advertisement, the firms listed in Appendix A to the Report had expressed an interest in tendering for minor works up to £100,000 in value (excluding works of an urgent repair and jobbing nature up to £5,000 in value) in respect of various Council properties, for a three year period.

The Sub-Committee agreed:-

(i) to note the lists of contractors who had expressed an interest in tendering for the works, as detailed in Appendix A to the Report;

(ii) to authorise the Director of Property Services to issue tender documents to the selected contractors for their respective trades in respect of each area, on the basis of a three year term contract commencing on 1 April 2001, subject to satisfactory financial assessments as required by the Director of Finance;

(iii) to delete corrugated sheet metal roofing and cladding work, and ventilation work from this section of the contract, having regard to the very infrequent incidence of these works as single trades; and

(iv) to note that should there be a requirement for the works detailed at (iii) above, the appropriate sections would be re-advertised.
