APPENDIX to the minute of the meeting of the Roads Committee of 9 March 2000 (Article 1(b) refers)

MINUTE of MEETING of the EXECUTIVE SUB-COMMITTEE OF THE ROADS COMMITTEE held in the Committee Room, Town and County Hall, Forfar on Thursday 17 February 2000 at 1.30 pm.

Present: Councillors SANDY WEST, KITTY RITCHIE and ROBERT MYLES.

Councillor WEST, Convener, in the Chair.

1. MINUTE OF PREVIOUS MEETING

The minute of meeting of this Sub-Committee of 5 August 1999 was submitted and approved as a correct record.

2. EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS

The Sub-Committee resolved, in terms of Standing Order 27(2), that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item so as to avoid the possible disclosure of information which was exempt in terms of Part 1 of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, paragraphs 6, 8 and 9.

3. ACCEPTANCE OF TENDER B966/5- GANNOCHY BRIDGE REPAIRS

With reference to Article 3 of the minute of meeting of the Roads Committee of 20 April 1999, there was submitted Report No 186/00 by the Director of Roads detailing tenders received for the B966/5 Gannochy Bridge repair works. The basic elements of the project would involve the installation of concrete beams within the inside faces of the parapet walls, installation of tie bars through the bridge structure to prevent any further bulging of walls and masonry and mortar repairs to the whole bridge structure. Given that the bridge was located on the boundary between Angus and Aberdeenshire, the works would be jointly financed between Angus and Aberdeenshire Councils.

The Sub-Committee agreed to approve the acceptance of the lowest tender for repairs to the B966/5 Gannochy Bridge, being that submitted by Balvac Whitley Moran Ltd in the amount of £81,903.39.
