MINUTE of SPECIAL MEETING of the ROADS COMMITTEE held in the Town and County Hall, Forfar on Thursday 17 February 2000 at 2.24 pm

Present: Councillors SANDY WEST, KITTY RITCHIE, Provost Mrs FRANCES E DUNCAN OBE, Councillors ALEX KING, STEWART McGLYNN, IAN MACKINTOSH, PETER MURPHY, ROBERT MYLES, HELEN OSWALD and DAVID SELFRIDGE

1. PROVISIONAL REVENUE AND CAPITAL BUDGETS 2000/01

There were submitted (a) Report No 150/00 (44K) by the Director of Finance, being a background report apprising members of the Provisional Revenue Budget submissions of each Council Department and of the savings considered necessary to allow the Council to deliver a Budget within the Expenditure Guideline set by the Scottish Executive, and also setting out the Provisional Composite Capital Budget submissions for those Departments with capital programme expenditure; (b) Report No 151/00 (4K) by the Director of Finance, being the Provisional Revenue Budget Volume, together with a commentary by each Head of Department; (c) Report No 152/00 (4K) by the Director of Finance being the Departmental Savings Proposals Volume; and (d) Report No 153/00 (4K) by the Director of Finance, being the Provisional Capital Budget 2000/2001.

The Committee agreed:-

  1. to note the Roads Department Provisional Base Revenue Budget submission for 2000/01 as contained in pages 52 to 65 of the Provisional Revenue Budget Volume (Report No 151/00) and the savings proposals as contained in pages 15 to 16 of the Departmental Savings Proposals Volume (Report No 152/00);
  2. to approve the savings for the Roads Department totalling £219,000;
  3. to approve the revised budget net expenditure for the Roads Department resulting therefrom and to advise the Council at the Council Tax setting meeting in early March 2000 accordingly; and
  4. to approve the Roads Provisional Capital Budget for 2000/01 as contained in pages 34 to 39 of the Provisional Capital Budget Volume (Report No 153/00).
