APPENDIX I to the minute of meeting of the Roads Committee of 13 June 2002 (Article 1(b) refers)

MINUTE of MEETING of the EXECUTIVE SUB-COMMITTEE of the ROADS COMMITTEE held in the Committee Room, Town and County Hall, The Cross, Forfar on Thursday 20 May 2002 at 2.00 pm.

Present: Councillors SANDY WEST, RON SCRIMGEOUR (substitute for Councillor Ritchie) and ROBERT MYLES.

Apology: An apology for absence was intimated on behalf of Councillor KITTY RITCHIE.

1. MINUTE OF PREVIOUS MEETING

The minute of meeting of this Sub-Committee of 28 March 2002 was submitted and approved as a correct record.

2. EXCLUSION OF PUBLIC AND PRESS

The Sub-Committee resolved in terms of Standing Order 27(2), that the public and press be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item so as to avoid the disclosure of information which was exempt in terms of Part 1 of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, paragraphs 6, 8, 9 and 10.

3. A90 FORFAR BYPASS IMPROVEMENTS ­ AWARD OF CONTRACT

With reference to Article 10 of the minute of meeting of the Roads Committee of 7 March 2002, there was submitted Report No 607/02 by the Director of Roads giving details of the tenders received for the A90 Forfar Bypass Improvement works and outlining the procedures in place to award the contract. The basic elements of the project comprised the design, construction and maintenance of grade separated junctions at the A929/A94 Glamis Road and A926 Kirriemuir Road junctions on the Forfar Bypass section of the A90 trunk road. The costs of these improvements would be fully funded by the Scottish Executive.

The Sub-Committee agreed that, on receipt of an instruction in writing from the Scottish Executive, Angus Council should enter into a contract with R J McLeod (Contractors) Limited, the winning tenderer for the A90 Forfar Bypass Improvements, in accordance with the decision of the Scottish Executive.
