Meffan Winter Show 2018

ANGUSalive Meffan Winter Show

Our annual open Meffan Winter Exhibition is a key event in the Scottish Arts Calendar and provides an opportunity for both amateur and professional artists based in Scotland to showcase their work.

There is a chance for all artists to have their work purchased for the Angus Art Collection. The ANGUSalive Purchase Prize of £1,500 is chosen by a panel of judges which includes artists and our Visual Arts Officer, Gill Ross. There is also the Colin Dakers Memorial Purchase Prize of £1,000 which is chosen by Colin Dakers' family.

Gill says "The Meffan Winter Exhibition is an exciting time of year for us as we don't know what artwork will come into our galleries. All mediums and disciplines are welcome, from paintings to sculpture, ceramics to jewellery.

When we're choosing our ANGUSalive Purchase Prize winners, we're looking for a piece of artwork that can speak for itself and would make an exciting addition to the Angus Art Collection."

There is also an opportunity for our visitors to vote for their favourite artwork. The winner of the public vote will receive a £200 prize.

The Winter Exhibition 2018 opened on Saturday 17 November.

You can see paintings from the Angus collection in our ANGUSalive museums and galleries, which are all free admission. To find out more about the art collections, please visit our fine art collection page. You can also view some items from our collection on the Art UK website.
