Angus Glens Walking Festival 2019

Walk 5 - 2 Munro Challenge (Broadcairn, Cairn Bannoch) - Friday 31 May

(Please download the PDF map (2 MB) if the 3D map does not display in your browser)

The walk starts from Glen Doll visitor centre heading North alongside the River South Esk past Moulzie (Stalkers Cottage) to Bachnagairn where traces of an old shooting lodge (1819) can still be found. From Bachnagairn you will ascend into mountain country where there are magnificent views across the ridge leading to Broad Cairn (998m). The ridge is followed to Cairn Bannoch (1012m, the day's high point) and on over Fafernie (1000m). From here you follow the boundary line to the Knaps of Fafernie then onwards to Crow Craigies, which is the start of the long steep and often rough decent down into Glen Doll. This is the ancient track known as Jock's Road which will lead you back to your starting point at Glen Doll car park.

NB: This walk demands a high level of fitness.

Full hillwalking gear required.

Please bring a packed lunch and snacks. Refreshments at The Glen Clova Hotel after the walk.
